The recording time of a vinyl disc can vary depending on several factors and is controlled by adjusting parameters on the vinyl-recording lathe. Unlike CDs, which have a set recording capacity per disc, vinyl is capable of a range of different recording times that depend on the following factors:

Showing the versatility of their sounds Be-1ne show cases his deeper more dance floor style with the dub wise "Double Meaning", with its stomping kicks and weighty bass this tune is as much for the dance floor groove as it is for the living room. Lysergene pushes his sound further with this dark monster of a tune. "Inner Workings" comes with its own techy flavour moving stealthily with broody atmospherics for those eyes down moments in a dance.

For those of you interested in hearing the same loop over and over again on vinyl, there are two options: get a record, scratch it with a rusty pair of scissors and hope that one of the grooves gets stuck, or: order a dubplate of locked grooves from Dub Studio.

April was a big month here at Dub Studio - after 6 years cutting dubplates we finally took the plunge and cut our first set of master lacquers! We received a test pressing and its sounding good - we will publish more details when the vinyl is released but here is a sneak preview:

Dub Studio has changed! We now have a completely new way of ordering, which gives more flexibility then ever. You can now add products and services to your cart, then carry on browsing and check out whenever you are ready. The prices shown on the site are for one side of a dub, but you can easily add a second side, or extra tracks - your cart will automatically update giving the total price. Bulk discounts are clearly shown but feel free to add products to your cart to see how much the final order will cost.

Shipping rates have also changed - instead of a flat fee they are now based on the Royal Mail system of price by weight and destination. This is part of Dub Studio's continued effort to be a truly international service.

We would also like to welcome Hazel to the team. She will be handling orders, files and bookings - giving Henry and Boris more time to focus on mastering and the technical side of things! Things might be a little bumpy at first, as we sort out the teething problems with the new system, so please let us know anything you think needs improving.
